Defining Duvet ~ Summer's Sleep Solution

A selection of fabrics including toile and embroidered options

Record high temperatures are sweeping the U.S. making us all hot and bothered. The lazy days of summer are at their peak and we are all looking for things that can ease our everyday "ta da" lists.

Enter the duvet and duvet cover. These luxury linen essentials are ideal for summer. They can reduce the complexity of making a bed, not just during the summertime, but all year round.

Duvets and duvets covers are not to be confused with comforters. While comforters go on top of the traditional sheets and blankets, duvets and duvet covers can be used by themselves, almost like a blanket.

Duvets

The duvet itself fits into a specially made cover. The duvet itself may be cleaned less often, and depending on its contents, may require specialist dry cleaning. A modern duvet may be filled with natural or synthetic materials including down or feathers of various quality and cost, or silk, wool, cotton or artificial fibers such as polyester batting.

Duvet Covers

Duvets covers are available in a wide variety of fabrics including cotton, linen, silk, polyester and velvet. Each of these fabrics has its advantages and disadvantages, it really depends on the individual's preferences and requirements. We recommend cotton or linen when taking into consideration maintenance, look and feel.

The duvet cover is removed and laundered as often as the bottom sheet and pillow cases.

During our biggest sale of the year, you can find several duvet cover options to create your ideal escape. This year we are offering a duvet online as well.
